Coach Kyle is a wonderful instructor, especially with young children! Our 3 year old son looks forward to every class! Coach Kyle is patient, encouraging and has an incredible ability to balance structure, discipline, and fun. He knows how to engage kids in a way that builds confidence, coordination, and respect, all while making the class enjoyable and age-appropriate. Our son is not only learning the basics of jiu-jitsu, but also important life skills like listening, perseverance, and teamwork. We’ve seen such a boost in his (super;) focus since starting here! We are so grateful to have found Coastal Jiu-Jitsu!
I dropped into the 5 AM Gi and 6 AM No-Gi classes at Coastal BJJ in Destin, FL, and I couldn’t have had a better experience. From the moment I walked in, I noticed the mats were freshly cleaned and the environment felt genuinely welcoming—everyone here knows each other, and it shows in the positive energy on the mats. The students in class were adaptive and great training partners, making it easy to learn and push myself. The head instructor was extremely friendly and insightful, breaking down each sequence with clarity and offering high-level expertise from every position. During live rolling, nobody was trying to rip submissions. Instead, we trained safely, rolled hard, and helped each other grow. An outstanding gym and an even better community—highly recommended.
Dropped in here one morning on vacation for the AM no gi. Black belt instructor was great, provided excellent instruction and had a lot of solid rolls with the dudes there. Highly recommend you check em out
My brother in law and I dropped in for a class while on vacation, and we could not have felt more welcomed by everyone. Coach Kyle is very knowledgeable and provided us with great feedback. He is also super approachable and easy to talk to. The culture there is very positive, uplifting and inviting. Will recommend to anyone in the area!
We signed our son up the moment he turned 5, unsure how he would do with his very reserved personality. Coach Kyle helped coax Clark out of his comfort zone. Since starting in July, his confidence has soared and he loves going to the training room. Jiu Jitsu at Coastal has been nothing but an amazing experience.
