Coach Julian runs a great gym. The team that trains there are super nice and super high level. Great place to learn and get some rounds in.
Dropped in for a couple no Gi open mats while on vacation. Great culture and great people. Julian was awesome and all students were safe and respectful. Their schedule is listed in their instagram story. Thanks for the good vibes!
I moved and left a school that I really liked so I was nervous that I wasn’t going to find another school that fit me. But fortunately, I found Julian and the JiuJitsu 967 crew and it’s like home. Everyone is super friendly and patient and encouraging. There is no ego or pride in that space. Julian is a humble, knowledgeable, and wonderful instructor. I’m really thankful for him and the school that I’m proud to be part of :)
I stumbled upon this academy by googling jiu-jitsu spots near the south side. My first class with professor Julian blew me away. Specifically because of how he conducted the warm-ups. It wasn’t your typical front rolls, back rolls, hip escapes, etc. He showed us a medium range guard pass and each person went for time as he slowly ramped up the pace, details and resistance to emulate live conditions. Then he began showing a technique that tied into the guard pass. I left there and I felt like I had learned something that would actually stick for a change. As a 50 year old blue belt hobbyist, I tend to forget more than I remember. That being said, the vibe of the school is just as important. Everyone was super cool and welcoming. The training was tough, but all the higher belts took time to help the lower belts. You could tell professor Julian created an environment that focused on lifting each other up.
I have been privileged to watch classes here. Empowerment of women and youth is real, and Julian is a kind and admirable professor. Our children deserve to be prepared and confident in the future. What ever your age this is a terrific practice at 967
