I’ve been going to The Academy for almost 3 months. I’m 52 yrs old, in decent but not great shape, and had no formal Jiu-Jitsu training before I started here. Don’t let any of that stop you from training here! This is a great place! Michael and Jen are great coaches with experience and knowledge. They and are very good teachers always giving one on one instruction as needed. They teach at a pace and progression that makes sense for experienced and less experienced students. The higher belts and more experienced students are always helpful and friendly. There are no egos here. Just a family atmosphere and an environment where everyone wants everyone else to get better every day.
Great school Sensei Mike is an excellent instructor it was a pleasure meeting Jennifer and training with them. They exemplify service and excellence and would highly recommend their school. They were patient and helped me on any issues I had.
I have trained in a lot of academies across the United States and with several coaches. Michael Chastain is an amazing instructor who definitely knows his material. I would recommend his services and academy for anyone that may be looking to start their BJJ journey or find a new home. Five stars, hands down!
Absolutely the best instructors! Always learning & improving. Better with youth than anyone I've ever seen, young ladies included. Fantastic program for men, women & children. Self defense, jujitsu, youth kick boxing... it's all great.
Legitimate training with knowledgeable, thoughtful instruction. Instructors are extremely helpful and friendly with extremely positive attitudes toward the learning of jiu jitsu. Cleveland Defense Academy offers a very welcoming, family friendly atmosphere where quality instruction and great training partners are matched with a fun, hard working environment.
