This place is VERY beginner-friendly and suitable for all ages and abilities. All the coaches are great; best of all, my son loves coming! He asks to go to every class. It also seems to have helped him focus on homework once we get home from class. We plan to sign up our daughter once she is a little older. The classes have a good mix of ages and boys and girls, so everyone has a partner. The signup process was VERY clear, well-written, and explained in detail. They even offer your first class free, and at sign-up, you get a free month. Come up to four days a week for the kids or what your schedule allows. Thanks to Coach Adam, Ryan, and Brian!
5 start training. the best instructors. great opportunity. Some are world class fighters. even the students that have been around a while are very helpful. If you train with your kid make sure they know its your kid. they have zero bullying policy that is strongly enforced. :) Canceling the payments is really hard. you might think contract is done and get charged for a few months.
This place is beyond legit. I lived and fought in Thailand and i can tell you their training is no joke. Amazing atmosphere, no meat heads allowed. Everyone was super friendly. Great coaches and training partners. Can't believe this this place is in Elk River! Super lucky to have found it.
I started at The Academy in October 2021 at 36 years old. I love the coaches and have made some very close friends with the people I train with. It's a commitment when you join and the way I look at it that's a good thing. The value here is excellent, I go twice a week to the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes and my skills have grown a ton. If you want to see what you're made of you've come to the right place. It's also a lot of fun! They are very military and law enforcement friendly.
This gym is 100% Veteran friendly! I absolutely love the place! The Coaches and students were so welcoming when I walked in on 01/31/22. I have been training BJJ 2-3 times per week since that time, and have built some really great friendships as a result. Since leaving military service 12 years ago, martial arts have been a huge coping mechanism and they have re-lit a fire in me. I even competed for the first time at 41 years old. During my preparation for my first competition, there was no shortage of support from my Coaches and Training Partners. I got the bug! So grateful to Coach Adam and We Defy Foundation for granting me an opportunity to train BJJ!
