I’ve been training at Shraims for a little over two years now. Not only are the workout boxing classes well-paced and enjoyable, but the sense of community keeps me coming back. Because boxing is typically a male-dominated sport, I found a lot of joy when more women joined our fitness classes. Coach Kyle is truly one of a kind. His classes are consistent, but get your heart pumping. Coach Ahmed does a great job of challenging us as athletes, while also keeping the atmosphere light hearted and fun. My only suggestion would be to incorporate more technique into the fitness classes for those who are trying to learn punches the correct way. However, I know that the gym also offers technique-only classes. I highly recommend trying out a fitness class, as it is open to all adult ages with a range of experience and body types.
I’ve been going to Shraim’s on and off for about four years, and over the past year I’ve taken boxing more seriously and stayed consistent. Growing up in the area, I can confidently say this is by far the best old-school boxing gym around. Shraim is the kind of coach you want — honest, straight up, and usually with some sarcasm. He’s a true leader and nothing like the coaches you’ll find at a generic boxing gym. He genuinely cares about his people. As a 23-year-old early in my career and working full-time, this gym has become my home away from home. After long days of work, there’s no better place to blow off steam and reset. It’s more than just boxing, it’s a welcoming community that pushes you to be better inside and outside the gym. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a real gym with real people.
