My son started here about a year ago, Really was into it till recently. He started Jiu Jitsu because he was getting bullied at school and needed to learn how to properly defend himself. I feel this is a great place to get confidence my son did.For that I am forever grateful, If I am going to do a review it should have the good and the bad. My only complaint is that my son is not into competitions. So during the season which is right now the coaches focus a lot more on the kids that go to competitions. My son feels like he is not being told what to do while the kids he is rolling with get told how to submit him. But my son does not get told how to counter. He really felt ignored. We have had some other personal issues at home and have chosen to take a break from Jiu Jitsu for these reasons. That being said, I want to thank Jud and Taygan for giving my son his confidence back after getting so bullied at school. This community of LaPine needs a positive place to learn how to be accountable for your actions and how each person effects each other. Jud and Taygan are doing that and a lot more then most to help the kids in the community. Thank you
Our family was one of the first families at this gym. Our children were loyal and respected the gym. My son Matteo was their highest ranked student coming from another gym at the beginning. Since joining the gym the relationship went down hil as both coaches have a very hard time dealing with beginners and children. Coach Judd especially has the most difficulty as he as very little patience and lashes out at the children in personal anger. Coach Judd also has issues with being to rough. He injured my daughter twice in the two years she was there. He stated it was an accident. From my understanding from other coaches that a major no no in the coaches realm. I was a student for a very short time, I was injured by Coach Teagan and ended my journey of jujitsu. Again, I was told coaches should NEVER injure their students from other respected gyms. The final steam was just last week when my son Matteo was pulled aside and yelled at for not try. Coach Judd stated "if you don't try, you don't need to be here. You have other sports you do." Plus much more. In the meantime my son was going against a beginner and was going easy in him letting him learn moves. Coach Judd totally ASSUMED the situation wrong and completely disrespected our son in front of the class. My life partner Diana then stepped in and had words with Judd and decided to pull our family from this glorified over priced baby sitting class. Not a jujitsu martial arts gym. There is a reason this gym can't keep students.Judd straight up doesn't like kids and it's apparent he didn't like my son. It's not the students. It says one star but it won't let me list with no stars. Do not waist your money at this pathetic place. NO STARS.
If you’re looking for an activity that helps your kids with focus, confidence, and team work, Patronus Jiu jitsu is where they need to go. Our daughter looks forward to going any chance that she can go, she’s gained so much confidence in her skills that she’s learned. Patronus jiu jitsu has truly been a light on some of her most challenging days. The gym is clean, the coaches are very informative and patient and we love to be apart of it.
We have been going for about 1 year and the kids love it! With respectable, loyal coaches. Its a place that teaches the kids life skills while they have fun! We love Patronus!
The instructors are great and we love it there! My kids started in the 10-14 y/o class about a year ago and really enjoy it. My daughter and I go to the women's only class and have fun bonding with other women. (Yes, it's a little weird at 1st and you will get sore especially your neck!😜 After a couple weeks though it actually seems more like a form of therapy .) The gym is a nice size, not too big and intimidating or too small and stuffy. Highly recommend!
