Fantastic gym. Great people. Drop-in friendly. I was visiting the area for a work trip and wanted to get some training in. You know how it goes when you drop in somewhere, it’s somewhat of a gamble and you prepare yourself for the worst and hope for the best. I’m pleased to report that there were no feelings of anyone there targeting the drop in or going competition pace with the drop in. Great instruction, some high level practitioners. 10 out of 10 highly recommend. Clean mats and clean facility.

I’m a brown belt who was traveling around Oregon and dropped into Adamson Bros Jiu Jitsu twice this week. Good times! Everyone was welcoming and the instruction was high-level. Zach was coaching both nights and was knowledgeable and articulate. I liked the way he worked the techniques that he showed into the positional sparring rounds that followed. He also slightly modified the rules for the open sparring sessions that day by incentivizing students to work the technique and positions that we just drilled. I think this is a great idea for reinforcing what was taught. Highly recommend! Thanks again for having me in.

I had an amazing experience at Adamson Bros Jiu Jitsu. I moved to Astoria just for the summer and was having a hard time meeting people, but I found a truly fantastic community here. The environment was welcoming from day one, and I got a chance to meet some amazing people! I had the chance to improve not only in jiu jitsu, but also as a coach. By coaching alongside some of the awesome instructors at Adamson Bros I was able to learn a lot and add to my coaching experience. As a judo black belt with 18 years of martial arts experience, I can confidently say I’ve never seen a better coaching staff. They’re not only incredibly knowledgeable but also genuinely nice, honest, and invested in every student’s progress. The instruction quality is top-tier, and the atmosphere makes you want to keep coming back. If you’re in the area and looking for a place to train, learn, and be part of a supportive martial arts family, Adamson Bros is worth every penny.

I recently moved to Astoria at the start of 2025, and my biggest concern about leaving my longtime home gym (10th Planet Portland, where I trained for over 8 years) was finding a new place that truly felt like home. Adamson Brothers Jiujitsu not only exceeded my expectations, it redefined what a welcoming gym community can feel like. Professor Zach and Professor Nate welcomed me with open arms from day one. As a brown belt who had never even put on a gi before, the switch felt like a huge leap. But between the coaches’ thoughtful guidance and the generosity of students who are deeply proficient in the gi, I quickly found my footing. They met me exactly where I was, adapting their coaching style to my background and learning style, something I’ve seen them do equally well for beginners walking in the door for the first time. Another thing that sets this gym apart is the culture. What you will not find here are “meathead bullies” looking to take out their frustrations on others. At every gym, people like that occasionally show up, but the true mark of a great gym is how leadership handles it. At Adamson Brothers, the leadership sets a clear tone, fosters respect, and vets students in a way that creates a safe and supportive training environment for everyone. In my time here, I have only encountered encouragement, humility, and genuine camaraderie. The community here is what makes it so special. Students and coaches alike are supportive, encouraging, and genuinely invested in each other’s progress. The kids’ program is phenomenal, with many parents training alongside their children, a testament to how deeply the gym is rooted in the Seaside community. It is no surprise they have received numerous awards from the Chamber of Commerce and are recognized as leaders in youth sports locally. Whether you are brand new to jiujitsu or have been training for years, you will feel at home here. People drive an hour or more just to train at Adamson Brothers, and after experiencing it myself, I can see exactly why. Come find out for yourself, you will be welcomed like family.

I was invited to Adamson Bros about a year and a half ago, and I am so glad I went! I had no prior experience in any form of martial arts, but that was okay. When I started, I figured I would at the very least get some exercise and gain a new hobby. I gained so much more. This sport teaches me the value of slowing down and breathing during a class, but also how that parallels my everyday life. This wouldn't be possible without the coaches and community at Adamson Bros! They meet you where you’re at in your jiu-jitsu journey and allow you to push yourself to where you want to be. The environment that Zach and Nate have provided is safe, encouraging, and allows for growth within oneself. For all students, whether you are new or seasoned, this is a place where you get to take your shoes off and come home. They don’t just show up to run a business rather to instill the love they have for the sport into others. If you're looking to push yourself out of your comfort zone or just try something new, I highly recommend Adamson Bros Jiu-Jitsu. I am so happy to call this place my home gym!
