We took our five year-old there, and everyone was great. The coaches were incredible with the kids; very knowledgeable, knew how to teach a complex sport to young children, and created a really fun atmosphere. Great discipline for young children. Would highly recommend
Hart BJJ is an awesome place to train. Tim and Heather are great instructors. They are technically high level and passionate. They are also helpful, kind, and humble which creates a family friendly gym culture. I also like the high expectations they have of the kids. They dont just teach bjj but a lifestyle for the kids to follow. When you train here you become part of the hart bjj family.
I’ve been to many gyms between NJ, PA, DE, NC, SC, and even a handful in Europe. The atmosphere that Tim and Heather have created here is second to none. You will be welcomed with open arms and treated like an old friend on your first day. The facility is kept clean with plenty of mat space. If Tim is teaching your class it’ll likely go from feeling like an introduction to the basics to a deep dive on proper body position and how to flawlessly execute the move that feels like getting your own private lesson. If Heather, Phil, or Rick are teaching you’ll likely have a chuckle or two while receiving the same attention to detail. Their kids program is incredible. Their adult program is incredible. You can have relaxed technical matches with IBJJF champions or tough, physically demanding matches with people who have never stepped foot on the competition circuit. There’s no culty bullshit. It’s just pure “come as you are and leave your ego at the door” that other gyms claim but fail to meet. Just remember to keep shoes off the mat, and bare feet on the mat
My experience has been nothing short of fantastic. My daughter first got into jiu-jitsu and loved it from the start. They have coaches with varying styles and experiences that are top notch. Hard work is recognized, everyone helps each other out and the coaches always have time to answer you or your children's questions to help you achieve your goals. It's a community that I wish I joined sooner and highly recommend anyone to go in and see for yourself.
My 7 year-old started at Hart BJJ and absolutely loves it! The coaches are great with kids patient, fun, and super encouraging. The classes are well run and really help with confidence and focus. It’s been such a good experience that we ended up signing up our 5-year-old too! Both of them look forward to every class. Couldn’t recommend Hart BJJ enough!
