I have been wanting to try jiu jitsu for years, but didn’t really trust the atmosphere of most places. The moment I talked to/met Robin I could tell he was the kind of person and teacher I could click with and enjoy learning from. He makes sure that everyone in his classes is safe and respectful all while also making sure you properly learn the techniques. He’s a great instructor. I’m an old dog learning new tricks and loving every minute of the classes. I could go on forever about how glad I am that I decided to stop in and give this place a chance, but you should just come by and talk to him and see for yourself.

I absolutely love this dojo! Robin is legit, having trained in Brazil with a direct lineage to Helio himself! When I moved and had to leave my dojo in Chattanooga, I was worried that I would not find a place near Smithville that would be able to match my old BJJ dojo. Now, having trained with Robin at McMinnville Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over a year, I can honestly say that his approach has made me better. He has a curriculum devised by Pedro Sauer (who trained with Rickson) which goes through some fundamentals of BJJ that one can never seem to drill enough. Plus, Robin is attentive to detail, and he won’t hesisitate to correct you if you are performing a technique incorrectly. There are no redneck players trying to kill you at his gym either; it’s like a big happy family. Come try it!

When I decided to give Jiu-Jitsu a try again after trying it once several years ago in Murfreesboro, I decided to go to McMinnville Jiu-Jitsu. I’m glad I did. Robin Clark is an amazing instructor with a great demeanor and personality that is welcoming and not intimidating to someone like me, who is just starting out. His knowledge is evident from the very beginning, and he has a great teaching style. The classes absolutely wear me out, and the mental aspects are as demanding as the physical. This is absolutely a wonderful place to go and I can’t recommend them highly enough!
