I came last year to train with professor Danaher at another club and loved it so much I came back with friends. We are all so overwhelmed with how amazing the club is, the vibe is incredible and all of the top jiu-jitsu players in the world are there and so so friendly and nice. You leave every day feeling you are getting that much better and glad that you came. We came from Kingston ON Canada and can already see coming back

Dropped in at Kingsway while in town for the week. Professors Luke and John were so incredibly kind. The gym atmosphere is very welcoming. Huge mat space, great locker rooms with multiple showers. And the lessons were ultra technical and high level. It was a great experience, and these guys treated me like one of their own. I will definitely be back.

I had an absolutely incredible experience at King’sWay Jiu-Jitsu. The facility was spotless and looked extremely up to date. The mats were in fantastic condition and clearly well cared for. You can tell the owners take real pride in maintaining a top-tier training environment. Gordon and Janie were so warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in, making me feel right at home. Gary taught an amazing class! His instruction was articulate, detailed, and easy to follow every step of the way. You can tell he’s not just a great practitioner, but a gifted teacher. And I have to mention; the front desk is stunning. You can see the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into it. From the moment you walk in, it's obvious that these people understand that quality matters. 10 out of 10, would recommend training at King’sWay Jiu-Jitsu to anyone serious about becoming proficient in submission grappling.

Dropped in here while visiting Austin for work. Gym is super nice, clean, and a very welcoming environment. John Danaher taught gi class and I cannot believe the level of detail we covered in an hour and a half. Will definitely return every time I’m in town.

I visited Kingsway Jiu-Jitsu in North Austin for the morning gi class, and I have to say this place is outstanding. Since retiring after 25 years in the U.S. Secret Service and 8 years in the military reserves, I swore I wouldn’t get up early anymore after decades of shift work. But Kingsway was worth breaking that rule for. Having trained in gyms all over the country and abroad, I can confidently say Kingsway is in the top five nicest facilities I have ever experienced. Facility The academy is absolutely beautiful, a true state-of-the-art Jiu-Jitsu environment. Spacious, clean, and designed with safety and performance in mind: raised Fuji mats that protect your body on takedowns, high ceilings with excellent ventilation, and more than 2,000 sq. ft. of mat space. The walls are properly padded, the fencing is professional-grade, and the bathrooms are large, spotless, and equipped with showers and lockers. There’s a huge parking lot, and everything is laid out with wide walkways, free of clutter. What stood out to me most is that no expense was spared. Outfitting a gym with the best mats, fencing, and infrastructure isn’t cheap, but Kingsway has invested in every detail to create a clean, safe, and world-class training space. That level of commitment doesn’t just enhance safety, it elevates the entire learning experience. Coaching & Instruction I dropped into the morning gi class with Luke Griffith, who ran an excellent session on X-guard with a level of detail and clarity that really stood out. His advanced class later in the day focused on triangles and tied the concepts together beautifully. While I didn’t get the chance to meet all of the coaches, it’s clear this team is something special. In my opinion, John Danaher is one of the most technical and strategic active coaches in the sport today. Add in Gordon Ryan and the other world-class athletes who call Kingsway home, and you have a lineup that makes me wish I were a young man again, able to spend all day, every day, training with this crew. Culture & Team As a visiting black belt, I always reach out first, I never just show up unannounced. I texted Gordon, and he welcomed me to train. True to his reputation, he was gracious and professional. That carried over into the academy itself, everyone I met was warm, respectful, and ego-free. From white belts to high-level competitors, the culture is about growth and professionalism. I partnered with a blue belt during class who patiently worked with me through details, and Luke made sure I left with new takeaways. Final Thoughts After today, I’ll gladly get up early to train at Kingsway whenever I’m in Austin. This academy is a model for what a world-class facility, coaching staff, and culture should look like. If you’re in Austin and serious about training, whether you’re a competitor, a hobbyist, or considering trying Jiu-Jitsu for the first time, Kingsway Jiu-Jitsu is the real deal and I highly recommend training with them!
