Gracie Jiu Jitsu Charlottesville has been an incredible experience for my son and our family. Since joining, I’ve seen a huge improvement not only in his confidence and discipline, but also in his focus, and respect. The progress he has made in both skill and maturity has honestly exceeded my expectations. What stands out most is how much the instructors genuinely care about the kids. They create an environment that is structured and encouraging. You can tell they take the responsibility of working with children seriously. They pay close attention to each student, make sure techniques are taught safely, and foster a culture of respect and support rather than aggression or ego. The instructors do a great job balancing discipline and accountability with patience and encouragement, which is not easy to find. My son looks forward to every class, and as a parent, there’s a lot of comfort in knowing he’s learning from people who truly care about his well-being and development both on and off the mat. I would highly recommend Gracie Jiu Jitsu Charlottesville to any parent looking for a positive, safe, and genuinely impactful experience for their child.
We do the unlimited membership a few months out of the year. It’s been so useful and helpful for my kids safety. When they fall on the playground and someone is falling on them, no matter their size they know what to do. Worth every penny! Ask to barrow uniform if you can’t afford one just yet.
I was in Charlottesville for work training and dropped in at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for about two months. From the first class, they made the gym feel like home. The instructors are world-class, breaking down technique in a way that’s both detailed and easy to apply, and they kept me fully engaged through every session. The environment is welcoming, family-oriented, and perfect for practitioners of all levels, whether you’re just starting out or sharpening your game for competition. Training here not only elevated my skills, but also helped me bring home a win at an IBJJF tournament. I can’t recommend Charlottesville Gracie Jiu-Jitsu enough this place is the real deal.
I had the privilege to drop in to a 6am Gi class and couldn’t have felt more welcome. Everything from the initial inquiry into dropping in to the end of the class was great! Everyone was great to work with, and Alex was an amazing professor. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my day while away from home! Thankful the opportunity to join them first thing in the morning! Would highly recommend!
Me and my girlfriend came into town for a weekend away in the Shenandoah and we just so happen to spot the gym while driving. I called the school and Brent answered and invited us to their open mat. The gym was incredible, very clean, and inviting. The people were all amazing. We learned some new tricks and met some great people. We will be back!!
