I only get to train here when I’m in town, but this place is absolutely awesome. The coaching is top-notch, the atmosphere is welcoming, and everyone—from beginners to experienced fighters—is treated with respect. The workouts are challenging, the instruction is excellent, and you can tell the staff genuinely care about helping people improve. I recently heard they may serve breakfast soon as well . Highly recommend to anyone interested in boxing or just looking for a great workout.
I’ve trained and coached at multiple boxing gyms across Virginia, and The Hurt Factory stands out for creating an environment that genuinely helps people grow. Whether you’re a complete beginner looking to get in shape or a serious competitor pursuing success in combat sports, the atmosphere here is exactly what it should be! Welcoming, challenging, and authentic. What impressed me most is that the gym doesn’t try to be something it’s not. There is a real boxing culture, knowledgeable coaching, hard work, accountability, and a supportive community that pushes people toward their goals. It’s a place where everyday fitness enthusiasts can thrive, while also providing the tools, coaching, and environment necessary for real fighters to develop and succeed. If you’re looking for a gym that balances professionalism, camaraderie, and genuine boxing instruction. If you are serious about your boxing journey, in all seriousness… this is the only place to be.
I’ve had an amazing experience the coaches and the owner they welcome u in and they help u get straight to work. they stand behind you and help you push yourself to your goal. They see the goodness and the success that you have before you even know it yourself . If you want to go check it out I highly suggest them. It’s truly amazing what Scott has done and is still doing! Their believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself
My son has had such a great experience here! From the very beginning, the owner and coaches made him feel completely welcomed and comfortable. The atmosphere they’ve created is something special — disciplined and motivating while still being supportive and encouraging. What stands out most is how genuine everyone is. The coaches have been incredible with my son, taking the time to guide him, encourage him, and help build his confidence while still holding him accountable and pushing him to improve. They don’t just teach boxing; they teach respect, work ethic, self-control, and resilience. You can tell this gym is built on passion and community, not just business. Scott runs the place with a level of professionalism and care that’s hard to find. Every coach we’ve met has been patient, knowledgeable, and invested in helping people grow no matter their age or skill level.
Not great. Head coach Cujo is crazy he’s also weird with his wife and even showed “PICTURES” of her. The other coaches are pretty good, though, but don’t expect to get the elite-level training you think you’re going to get. It’s definitely more of a fitness gym. Cujo also, while sparring, is a loose cannon and will throw you in the ring for saying things like “sorry.” He’s also really predatory when it comes to selling his shows he will bug you nonstop until you buy. Same with all the other coaches when it comes to their used shoes, gloves, and other things; they will always pressure you to buy something. The majority of the class as well is not even spent with a coach or really training it’s more like 6 minutes in the ring, 30 minutes on the bag, some hypertrophy workouts, and that’s it. Not real training, just a good fitness gym. And after you’re all done, the coaches will just sit on their phones and do nothing. Not worth the money. Also, the dude will DEFINITELY send you to collections for any missed payments.
