Capital MMA & Elite Fitness in Lorton is hands down one of the best gyms I’ve trained at. Whether you’re a complete beginner or more advanced, this place has everything you need to grow. The fundamentals program is top-tier and perfect for building a strong foundation, and I enjoyed that they offer both gi and no-gi classes. The advanced classes really push you to the next level, and the level of detail from the coaches makes a huge difference in your progression. The sparring here is outstanding — challenging, technical, and always respectful. You’re constantly learning every round. On top of that, the weight room is excellent and well-equipped, making it easy to stay in peak condition alongside training. The overall environment is motivating, welcoming, and full of people who genuinely want to improve and help each other. The coaches are knowledgeable, approachable, and truly invested in their students. You can tell they care about your development both on and off the mats. If you’re thinking about starting or leveling up your training, this is the place to be. Highly recomm
I have been training at Capital MMA Lorton for about 3 years, and it’s been the best gym experience I ever had. I was nervous first starting BJJ, but everyone from the skilled coaches to the students made me feel welcomed. I never felt pressured to spar or have to keep up the pace since I was new. I was paired with a senior student and the coaches are always walking around making sure you are training safely, and give you guidance on your technique if needed. Thanks to that atmosphere I have the confidence to train now train in functional fitness proficiently as well. I highly recommend this gym if you are starting out new in Martial Arts!
Been going to Capital MMA for a couple of years and honestly couldn’t recommend it more. My kids love the jiu jitsu classes. They’re super high level but still fun enough that the kids stay locked in and actually want to keep coming back. I’ve done some Muay Thai there too and was surprised how quickly I got to a point where I felt comfortable and actually enjoying it. The coaches are legit world class but still really approachable. They also have a full strength and conditioning setup with really solid instructors who actually help you work toward your goals instead of just going through the motions. That’s usually what I do while the kids are training. Best part is the community. It doesn’t feel like your typical gym, way more welcoming, which is rare for a place with this level of coaching.
Here’s why I enjoy training at capital mma of Lorton. A game changing fundamentals class twice a week, gi and no gi classes, advanced classes to experience sparring, and a sense of community. I started at another bjj gym as a white belt but I didn’t feel like it was a good fit for me (that gym was great so nothing against them). But when I tried out capital MMA of Lorton, right away I saw a difference. I was also pushed to take the fundamentals class (which I had never experienced before) and to this day I make sure I never miss these classes even as a two stripe blue belt. So my overall recommendation is, if your looking for a new gym or just starting out, there are plenty of classes to pick from and it would be hard to beat the quality of the coaches and instructors.
This gym is amazing. I’ve been training BJJ here for about a month now and it’s honestly one of the best decisions I’ve made. Coaches Paul and Chad are incredible. They’re super knowledgeable, patient, and they really take the time to help you improve. Every class pushes me, and I leave feeling stronger, more skilled, and more confident. The atmosphere is great, everyone is welcoming, and the people there are awesome to roll with. If you’re thinking about starting BJJ or looking for a solid place to train, this is the spot.
