I’ve been working with Tyler at Totem Training and Performance for over a year now. At the beginning of 2025, I was in significant pain and struggled to walk consistently, which deeply impacted my daily function and quality of life. I had previously undergone hip surgery, yet never felt fully functional or truly confident in my movement. Through Tyler’s knowledgeable, individualized, and highly attentive approach to physical therapy, I’ve made meaningful and lasting progress. My pain is now well managed, my movement is reliable, and we’ve progressed into structured training. For the first time since my hip surgery, I have a level of freedom, strength, and control in my hip that I’ve never experienced before. As a bodybuilder, this is a huge win. Under Tyler’s guidance, I’ve added functional muscle and specifically added muscle to glutes and legs—clear proof this work goes beyond rehab and into true performance restoration. I feel like an athlete again. Tyler treats root causes, listens closely, and prioritizes long-term function and performance. I highly recommend him and Totem Training and Performance.
I’ve been boxing for about 18 years and started my Muay Thai journey about a year ago. As a 41-year-old , injuries are unfortunately part of the journey. My most serious one has been a shoulder subluxation that can be extremely painful when irritated. I started seeing Tyler at Totem a few months ago for rehab and I honestly couldn’t be more grateful. His process was thorough, intentional, and clearly grounded in a deep understanding of how the body actually functions, which I really appreciated. Our first session was mostly a series of tests, so he could understand what was going on. It was clear right away that he really knew what he was doing. Through working with him, I learned that I’m hypermobile and dealing with shoulder instability, which finally gave me clarity on what was actually going on. As I continued to work with Tyler, he taught me exactly which exercises would support my shoulder the most. When I stay consistent, I notice significantly less subluxation both during sparring and in my everyday life. When I fall off for a couple weeks, I can immediately feel the difference — which just proves how effective his approach is. Tyler is authentic, extremely knowledgeable, and genuinely a nice guy. He’s approachable and easy to work with, but he also takes our sessions seriously. He truly wants me to improve, continue developing my Muay Thai skills, and strengthen my shoulder for my overall long-term health. The best part of Totem is being able to train Muay Thai and see Tyler all in the same place! I would highly recommend Tyler to anyone who wants expert, thoughtful care and a provider who truly understands both rehabilitation and athletic performance.
Training with Tyler at Totem Training and Performance has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. After my shoulder surgery I honestly felt lost and didn’t know where to start, especially because I thought I had been training “right” even before my injury. Tyler helped me rebuild from the ground up, regain my strength, and develop real, long-term confidence in the gym. I worked with Tyler in person 1 on 1, where he fully evaluated me and gave me incredible attention to detail during our sessions. The coaching was hands-on, focused, and tailored exactly to what I needed. Even now when I’m not training directly with him, he continues to program my workouts and support my progress. Not only did I get back to where I was, but I broke through plateaus I had been stuck at before my injury. Most importantly, he helped me trust my shoulder again and get back to intense jiu jitsu training feeling strong and stable. Tyler is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to injury recovery and smart strength training. You can be confident you’re training safely while still getting strong as hell. On top of that, he’s a great guy who’s easy to talk to, learn from, and stay motivated around. I couldn’t recommend him more
I reached out to Totem Training and Performance for help with a complex, chronic shoulder issue that was gradually worsening, hoping it would allow me to continue training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu without severe pain — and I’m really glad I trusted my intuition. I had already worked with two physical therapists without much success, so this felt like a last-ditch effort, and honestly, I was skeptical anything could truly help. I was proven wrong. Tyler is an incredibly thorough and knowledgeable physical therapist, and the results speak for themselves. He’s especially skilled at integrating rehab exercises directly into your weight lifting sessions, making the therapy practical and highly effective for athletes. What sets Totem apart, I believe, is their business model. You get focused, one-on-one sessions where every rep is watched, coached, and adjusted as needed. It’s nothing like the typical PT clinic, where therapists juggle multiple patients at once or rush through exercises without proper sequencing. If you’re on the fence — especially if you haven’t had great experiences elsewhere — just take the plunge and reach out to them. You won’t be disappointed.
I have been training with Totem Training and Performance for over a year, and the results have been incredible. Tyler has helped me safely rebuild my strength and recover from a back injury through personalized programming and expert guidance. Thanks to Totem, I am stronger, healthier, and more confident in my movements than ever before and I am truly appreciative of their perspectives and effort!
