I highly recommend the Martial Arts Institute! I started my 5 year old son in the Taekwondo classes, and after a week of watching, I decided to join in as well. Since then my mother has also joined the Tai Chi class and loves it. It has been a greatly enriching experience. We have been going 6 days a week because we love it so much. The teachers are very skilled, both at martial arts and at teaching. I appreciate the emphasis on spiritual and mental fortitude, respect and appreciation. The groups are mixed ages and the higher belted students help teach the newer ones, embodying the saying that "to truly know something is to be able to teach it." I noticed right away how the culture of the dojang (the school), is to ask for everyone to participate and invest themselves. We were asked to learn the first student creed to earn our white belts, instead of just being given them. We continue to be asked what we enjoy the most, what areas we want to improve, and other questions that help us deepen into why we want to be there. The community is lovely, I really enjoy the relationships we are forming and the energy that the parents, students, and teachers bring. I asked my son what he would tell others about our dojang and he said "I love it, everyone should join, I never want to stop going!" He has become more respectful, disciplined, strong, and focused through our classes. I feel stronger, more confident, and challenged in a very healthy way. Master Walker is a great leader to the children. We had to pause our membership and Master Walker ensured to credit us and do right by the membership, which he didn’t have to. He is an excellent business man and a gift to the community.

Grandmaster Walker, the owner of the Martial Arts Institute, has been an instrumental person, a father figure, in my life for the past 34.5 years. I am always grateful not only for the martial art he has taught me over the years, but also for teaching me wisdom and kindness in my daily interactions with people.
