My 7-year-old daughter has been training there for a while, and I can assure you that it is the best place for Jiu-Jitsu training in Columbia!! It’s not just Jiu-Jitsu. You can see examples of lessons in respect, punctuality, responsibility, camaraderie, and loyalty. We love it!

Spartan Academy Mixed Martial Arts has been one of the best decisions we have made for our family. Watching our boys train here has been incredible. They have grown in skill, confidence, and maturity in a way that goes far beyond BJJ techniques. They teach discipline, respect, accountability, and how to stay calm under pressure. Over time, I have seen the boys become more focused at home and in school, more resilient when things get hard, and more supportive of each other. The bond between them has strengthened through the challenges of training, and it has been amazing to see them celebrate each other’s progress while pushing one another to improve. Spartan Academy Mixed Martial Arts also has a welcoming, positive environment. It is tough training, but it is done the right way, structured, safe, and encouraging. If you’re looking for a place that builds strong athletes and strong character, Spartan Academy is it.

Fantastic jiu-jitsu school! Coach Gibson is amazing with kids—patient, skilled, and very encouraging. Juliana and the staff runs everything smoothly and is always so kind and helpful. Our kids, Ethan and Maddie, love their classes and have gained confidence and discipline. Highly recommend for families!

One of the best jujitsu gyms out there, in my opinion. My son was at a different gym before we found Spartan Academy. He was bored and wanted to quit jujitsu. I knew it wasn't because he didn't love jujitsu but it was a problem with the gym itself. Once we found Spartan Academy I saw a change in him. He was more confident, respectful, and he tried harder. My daughter watched her brother on the mat and couldn't take her eyes off everything going on. She not once showed any interest in jujitsu but in that one day she decided it was for her. It's getting closer and closer to a year since we've joined and this has been the best year at school and home for both my kiddos. This gym has been so helpful. My daughter has ADHD and autism and this gym has helped her with her focus and confidence. They have found friends here and a drive to keep pushing forward. Open mats on Saturdays are a favorite of my kiddos. They love going and learning from all the different belt levels. If you're looking for a gym to join or to enroll your kids in, Spartan Academy is that gym.

If you want the best MMA and BJJ instruction in the area, go see Guybson. I’ve been a student of his for over a decade and the knowledge he brings to the mat is unmatched. Great atmosphere, tough training, and a head instructor who actually cares about your progress.
